Families faced with the rising cost of getting kids ready for another school year can save big-time at Goodwill’s annual back-to-school sale. On Tuesday, July 26, donated items will be reduced by 40 percent at all thrift stores operated by Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania. Goodwill Outlet stores are not included in the sale.
“We understand that family budgets are already stretched thin, so shopping at Goodwill is more attractive and practical than ever,” said Andrew Marano, Vice President of Donated Goods Retail with Goodwill SWPA. “We offer exceptionally affordable prices throughout the year, but our special back-to-school sale on July 26 means even more savings for more people.”
Goodwill thrift stores offer both kids and adults the opportunity to find a wide variety of items to show off their individual personalities to the world. There is no better place to find unique outfits and distinctive school supplies than at Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania.
“There are so many things at Goodwill to fit the different styles of kids including vintage t-shirts and sneakers, retro’ gear, or modern brand-name items, and the whole family can have fun browsing the aisles at Goodwill on a back-to-school treasure hunt. Shopping at Goodwill is also a way to contribute to your community because it supports Goodwill’s nonprofit mission to create jobs and career opportunities,” said Marano.
In addition to clothes and shoes, Goodwill stores are filled with school supplies, from art materials and notebooks to musical instruments, sports equipment, dorm decorations, bikes, lunch boxes, water bottles, and more — all at lower prices than when buying new at big box stores.
Goodwill is also making an urgent appeal for donations during this time so that affordable school clothing can be available to as many families as possible. Donate clothing, old school supplies, backpacks, or any other item you no longer use to help keep shelves well stocked. At a time when so many people in the area are seeking opportunities to stretch their dollars, shopping at and donating to your local Goodwill is more important than ever.
Donating to Goodwill is also good for the environment. Last year, Goodwill kept nearly 16 million pounds of material out of local landfills. Donating to Goodwill combats climate change by giving items a second life and encouraging secondhand shopping.
